Green Plantain Balls
Ingredients
4 Green plantains
5 tablespoons of Butter
2 tablespoons of Oil
1 tablespoon of Chili powder
1 tablespoon of Ground cumin
1 cup of Grated cheese or cooked chorizo or chicharrones
1 pinch of Salt
Preparation
Step 1 : To prepare the plantain balls, start by peeling the plantains and cutting them into medium-sized pieces.
Step 2 : Cook them over medium-low heat for about 30-40 minutes, turning them every 10 minutes, until they are very soft and slightly golden.
Step 3 : Once cooked, sprinkle the plantain pieces with chili powder, cumin, and salt to taste.
Step 4 : Then, place the hot plantains in a large bowl and mash them until you get a coarse dough.
Step 5 : Shape small balls from the dough and make a hole in the center of each.
Step 6 : Fill the balls with cheese, chorizo, or chicharrones, then close them again.
Step 7 : In a pan with hot oil, fry the stuffed plantain balls until they are golden and crispy on both sides.
Step 8 : Serve the warm plantain balls on a plate, preferably accompanied by coffee and a fried egg.
