Cheese or Mortadella Fingers
Ingredients
1 pound of Flour
1 tablespoon of Salt
2 tablespoons of Sugar
1 cup of Butter
½ pound of Cheese or mortadella
1 cup of Water
Vegetable oil for frying
Preparation
Step 1 : In a large bowl, prepare the dough with the flour, salt, sugar, and butter.
Step 2 : Mix the ingredients well until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.
Step 3 : Then, add cold water and knead until achieving a non-sticky, compact texture.
Step 4 : Roll out the dough with a rolling pin on a flat, clean, and floured surface until about 3 mm thick, and cut into strips approximately 2 cm wide.
Step 5 : Once the dough is ready, cut the cheese or mortadella.
Step 6 : If using cheese, it is recommended to use a white, hard, and salty-tasting cheese.
Step 7 : Take a piece of cheese or mortadella and wrap it with the dough, forming a spiral or screw shape, ensuring the filling is fully covered.
Step 8 : Fry the spirals in a skillet with very hot oil until the dough is golden, controlling the heat to prevent burning too quickly.
Step 9 : Finally, place them on absorbent paper to remove excess oil before serving.
